White-Tailed Plover at Dungeness - July 2010 - £35 per person

Whilst the White-Tailed Plover remains at Dungeness, we will arrange additional trips to this site, leaving mid-morning. Please call for availability.

Wednesday 21st July 2010 - Rainham Marshes RSPB Reserve - £25 per person

This RSPB site is excellent for warblers - including Lesser Whitethroat, Sedge Warbler & Reed Warbler. Yellow Wagtails, Bearded Tits, waders, ducks and Little Egret can also be found. Terns and gulls are regularly seen on the scrapes, as are some of the smaller raptors - Kestrel, Sparrowhawk and Hobby. The price includes admission to the reserve.

Thursday 22nd July 2010 - Northward Hill RSPB Reserve - £25 per person

Chance to see Marsh Harrier, Cuckoo, Nightingale, Turtle Dove, Yellow Wagtail and Little Owl . This site is home to a large heronry which also has a good number of Little Egrets (30 plus pairs) nesting amongst the Grey Herons. Nesting will be over at this time of year but many of the young birds will still be present.

Friday 23rd July 2010 - New Forest and Keyhaven Marshes - £30 per person

The first stop for breeding waders - including Lapwing, Curlew and Redshank. Redstart, Goshawk, Hobby and Honey Buzzard are also possible. Keyhaven is excellent for sea ducks, grebes, waders, hirundines and warblers.

Saturday 24th July 2010 - Rye Harbour Nature Reserve - £35 per person

Many breeding waders, terns (Little Terns nest on the beach, while Common and Sandwich Terns nest on the islands found in the lagoons) and small numbers of breeding Mediterranean Gulls are present. Warblers abound and Hobby, Buzzard and Peregrine can normally be seen.

Sunday 25th July 2010 - Otmoor RSPB Reserve - £20 per person

The site in Oxfordshire is a wonderful site for Red Kite. In addition, Turtle Dove, Lesser Whitethroat and Redshank breed. Many other warblers, woodpeckers and Common Tern will be seen.

Wednesday 28th July 2010 - Rainham Marshes RSPB Reserve & Tyttenhanger Gravel Pits - £30 per person

This RSPB site is excellent for ducks and waders. Good numbers of gulls are regularly seen on the scrapes, as are some of the smaller raptors - Kestrel, Sparrowhawk and Peregrine. The price includes admission to the reserve. A visit to Tyttenhanger is good for duck species and waders. This is also the best London site for Tree Sparrow and both species of partridge can be found. Summer migrants will also be present.

Thursday 29th July 2010 - Lakenheath Fen, Weeting Heath & Wicken Fen- £35 per person

First stop for Golden Oriole, Grasshopper Warbler, Hobby, possible breeding Common Crane and warblers. The second stop will be for Stone Curlew and Wood Lark. Finally we will visit Wicken Fen looking for warblers, hirundines, waders and raptors. Price includes admission to Wicken Fen.

Friday 30th July 2010 - Brownsea Island - £45 per person

This island, off the coast of Dorset, is a haven for waders and ducks. Spoonbill and Avocet are a specialty as are Red Squirrel. Rare waders turn up on passage. The price includes the ferry to the island and the landing charge.

Saturday 31st July 2010 - Cley Beach & Salthouse Nature Reserves - £35 per person

Another chance to visit the north coast of Norfolk for sea duck, waders, terns and gulls. There is also the chance to see skua's, divers and grebes. Waders and ducks should still be around in good numbers. The price includes admission to the reserve at Cley.

Sunday 1st August 2010 - Rutland Water - £35 per person

This is an excellent site for Turtle Dove, warblers, Tree Sparrows, raptors and many species of duck and on occasion waders - including Whimbrel. The bird of the lake is the Osprey (which ususal depart mid August) and they can often be seen fishing in the north-west arm of the lake. The price includes admission to the two reserves.

Wednesday 4th August 2010 - Cliffe Pools RSPB Reserve - £30 per person

This is a wonderful site for ducks, waders, warblers and terns. An open site but can produce many rare migrants and raptors and is worth visiting at any time of the year. At this time of year the Autumn passage of returning waders will be in full flow with some of the adult birds still showing full to partial summer breeding plumage.

Thursday 5th August 2010 - Minsmere RSPB Reserve - £35 per person

This is a wonderful site which has many breeding Avocets and breeding Bittern. Garganey, Turtle Dove, Nightingale and Sand Martins also breed here. Many species of warblers, terns - including (on occasion) the rare Roseate Tern and ducks spend the summer here. This site can be good for some of the rare herons - purple and squacco heron. The price includes admission to the RSBP reserve.

Friday 6th August 2010 - Pulborough Brooks RSPB Reserve - £25 per person

This is a good site for Nightingale, Yellowhammer and Bullfinch. In addition many warblers and hirundines can be seen. This has turned up some very good birds in the past few months. What will turn up next? The price includes admission to the RSBP reserve.

Saturday 7th August 2010 - Wrasbury Gravel Pits and Staines Moor - £15 per person

We will be looking for warblers, woodpeckers and terns. Wrasbury has a reputation for Grasshopper Warblers and Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, while Staines is good for Little Ringed plover, Spotted Flycatcher and the more common warblers and hirundines.

Get "up close and personal" to many types of waders and gulls. This reserve allows you to get very close to the birds, which do not seem to mind human activity. Marsh Harrier and Bearded Tits are often encountered at these sites as are several species of ducks and warblers. This is an excellent site for rare waders.

Saturday 14th August 2010 - Portland Bill & Arne RSPB Reserve - £35 per person

An early morning visit to Portland Bill to look for skua's, shearwaters, auks and petrels. Then a stroll around the bill looking for early signs of the Autumn migration. This will be followed by a visit to the RSPB reserve at Arne looking for waders, terns and gulls. The price includes admission to the RSBP reserve.

Sunday 15th August 2010 - Stodmarsh Nature Reserve - £30 per person

This reserve provides excellent opportunities to see Cetti's Warbler, Bearded Tit and Hobby. In addition many others warblers and hirundines will be present. Kingfisher, waders on autumn migration and raptors are also possible at this site.

Wednesday 18th August 2010 - Dungeness Patch & RSPB Reserve - £35 per person

A chance to do a spot of sea watching looking for skua's, shearwaters, gulls, terns and sea ducks before visiting one of the RSPB's best reserves in the south of England. At this time of year, the chance of finding waders on autumn migration will be high. The price includes admission to the RSBP reserve.

Thursday 19th August 2010 - Rye Harbour - £30 per person

This site is renowned for breeding Little Tern, Mediterranean Gull and Yellow Wagtail. Other species of terns and warblers breed at this site. Many of the young birds will have fledged and will be stocking up before they start their first migration. Many waders are also found here, as are Hobby, Buzzard, Peregrine and during passage an occassional Osprey.

Titchfield is a good site for waders and ducks and also has a small colony of Mediterranean Gulls. Warblers including Cetti's and Dartford can be seen. Farlington is good for waders, gulls, terns and ducks. Warblers and hirundines also abound with the chance of Bearded Tit, Water Rail and Hobby.

A spot of sea watching at Selsey for auk's, skua's, possibly shearwaters, gulls and terns, before visiting Pagham Harbour for waders, egret, warblers and hirundines. Church Norton - part of Pagham Harbour, is good for Firecrest and Spotted Flycatcher.
